I consider it my privilege to have attended a genuinely fruitful workshop. The presentations were very informative, inspiring and intriguing to take the listener forward to the completion of every audio file.

I do appreciate the insights that have been provided with regard to the areas such as research question, thesis statement, how theory in research has become very important and the arguments for and against the use of theory, preparation of research proposal, plagiarism, ethics, facts on impact factor in literature and humanities and so on. The impact of the sessions on plagiarism may be judged from the fact that the opportunity for ‘turnitin’ subscription was grasped by me.

Some of the sessions on publication of research articles had provided information that are very disturbing for young students and sincere professionals in the educational arena, who are committed with the right spirit for self achievements and general welfare.

I may be given the freedom to express that the workshop has forced me to become an informed and enlightened researcher from the selection of area for research to the publication of the research article. As a person undertaking inter-disciplinary research, the workshop has laid the foundation for a quality research.

Grateful to Prof. Manu, Coordinator of the Workshop and to AIFEST.

This online workshop has been an engaging one. The coordinator sir has done a wonderful job in imparting us important lessons on academic writing and research methodology, throughout the entire workshop. Although, we have been under pressure because of the current pandemic, the audio lectures have managed to put forward the most important things that we as researchers need to be aware of. The modules divided by the coordinator day-wise have quite an impact on the listeners.

The introduction to the topic of academic writing and research as a field has made us realize many issues related to both of them. We have come to know about the reality of research and academic writing in India and abroad as well. And the discussion on topics like writing a research proposal and its various elements, U. G. C. care listed journals vs predatory and fake journals, politics and the reality in getting into a Ph.D in Indian scenario etc., have made quite an impact on me.

The materials shared in soft copies have brought interesting results too. Especially, the samples of theoretical books and research proposal. And also, the discussion of theory and its role in research, the feedbacks from participants shared via WhatsApp have made me understand many things about the need of theory in research.

On the enrollment day itself the journey of an Online Workshop cum Certificate course began with the warm and humble words of the coordinator. At the first day I received post in time with the well planned content and the instructions of it’s delivery method.

The commitment, punctuality, regularity, politeness and the cooperation everything was just beyond the imagination. I really don't have the words to express my gratitude. I am thankful to you for conducting such an informative and the innovative course. I am neither an expert nor have very good command over language to give review but whatever I felt at my heart like to share with you.

I would like to review the workshop in the following aspects:

Content: The content of the workshop is highly informative and useful in the current research scenario.

Clarity of thoughts and presentation: I appreciate the examples and the references given by the coordinator each time to present research topic. Even the technical part i.e. the clarity of audio clips are without disturbance.

Punctuality and cooperation: The workshop is conducted as per the given scheduled without fail. As per  my opinion, definitely everybody might have received the satisfactory  response the coordinator regarding his/her queries.

Identifying the mentality of the researcher: I really wants to appreciate the coordinator for identifying the psychology of the researcher as well as the supervisor. I find some minute observation while listening the audio clips righty pointed by you that how we mess up  with the topics and the material we collected for the research.

Research resources provided: Along with the audio clips I must thank you to providing us some useful research e-copies of the books, Some useful websites and the links at the same time.

The workshop really benefitted the beginners like me as there was lot of confusion in my mind before the workshop regarding how to write a research paper, how to find a research topic and basically it gave an alarm about the fake journal in which almost all of us publish our papers.

The topics is theory a must and how to apply a theory to the text is well explained by you. There is lot to say about the workshop but there is a word limit and the workshop itself taught me to not write beyond the limitation.

Thank you Manu sir for giving me an opportunity to participate in this workshop. It was really an intellectual feast I received each time while listening the content.

Suggestion: Please conduct some more workshops about each content separately if possible.

A WhatsApp message has proved a boon for me through which I was aware of the details of a workshop captioned ‘Academic Writing and Research Methodology in English – An Online Workshop-cum-Certificate Course’. The very title of the workshop was too captivating to catalyze my curious mind. Consequently, I joined this workshop during this Corona pandemic despite being a Ph.D. degree holder. Three terms viz. ‘Academic Writing’, ‘Research Methodology’ and ‘Online’ used in this title unmask the whole purpose of the workshop. On the day of commencement of the workshop i.e. on 24th April, 2020 the Course Co-ordinator Prof. Manu Mangattu introductory audio clips which very lucidly and forcefully dealt with the roadmap, purpose and the pitiable condition higher education and research work especially in the field of arts and humanities in our country. Really speaking, my curious mind was filled with intellectual dose. It has been rightly uttered that ‘morning shows the day’. This proverb is applicable here in toto. There is no hesitation in my mind to declare that Prof. Manu Mangattu is a man of letters. Having such a wide knowledge he is always guided by his inner cry for commercialization of research work and higher education in our nation. This conviction forced him to organize this workshop. During this period Prof. Manu has very clearly elucidated and analyzed the various aspects of academic writing and research methodology through his lucid, sweet, thought provoking and information loaded audios and some pdf files. His lectures on research methodology, research article, research tools, research statement, research proposal, predatory journals, ugly business involved in article publication, plagiarism, technicalities of MS Word, some minor mistakes recurrently committed during composition of research articles, procedure for publishing an article, difference between thesis and research article, writing an abstract, use of library, internet, qualities of a good researcher et al. are highly commendable. These lectures have paved the way for quality research. I am senior to Prof. Manu but very politely I before his knowledge and way of presentation. Sir I, personally, learnt a lot from your audio lectures. Obviously enough, the workshop will attain its purpose.

The Workshop titled Academic Writing and Research Methodology in English – An Online Workshop-cum-Certificate Course is highly beneficial to the scholars and to the academicians with real thirst to do research. The present research scenario is totally disturbed of certain unethical practises which are viral in the academic scenario. There are certain means which misleads the blooming scholars in the arena. To such scholars, this workshop is a gift to take their research activity in a clear manner.

The workshop is well planned, organized and executed. The content is framed to cater the need of the participants. The schedule of one month is good, and the time is also convenient. The platform (Whatsapp) is viable and in short the workshop is useful and resourceful.

The expectation of joining the course would have been fulfilled for everyone. The scholars who are in their beginning years of their research can make use of the things discussed for the successful completion of their research. Information about predatory journals, similarity check, abstract writing, making use of library, submitting the paper for journal and its action and reaction were all discussed. The unethical practises involved in this process also brought to limelight and it would definitely help the individual to save oneself and its findings from the ‘proxy’/predatory journals. Appreciations are due to the organising team and especially to the coordinator, Manu Mangattu, for his excellent way of disseminating ideas and information out of his experience and expertise. On the whole, it is a reservoir of resources and great applause to the souls contributed to the success.

The workshop which commenced on 24 April 2020 and concluded on 23 May 2020seemed to be a compressed Encyclopedia of Current Affairs, History, Science, Language, Linguistics, Politics, Anthropology, Sociology, Library and above the most wanted Ethics. The memories of past (P.G. and M.Phil classes ) surged and haunted me in the present virus scenario via the vibrant voice of Manu, “I am Manu here”. His methodological attempt to push Research Methodology methodologically into the minds of Researchers was a grand success.

The essay “Education cannot be business” written by Associate Professor in Commerce, St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and the lectures delivered by Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chairman,UGC threw a light to a greater extent on the quality of education in the present time. The rigid rules of UGC paved the way for not only looming of fake journals, but also helped in selling the Ph.D’s in the market to get best price out of it. However, the business of selling Ph.Ds demanded Manu to say “It is someone else’s brain child. So don’t father such bastard children”

Writers like Aristotle, Plato, James Joyce, Dr. Johnson, Mathew Arnold, M.H. Abrahms, Edward Said, Roland Barthes, Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth, James Joyce, John Keats, etc,; and scientists like Einstein, Nicholas Copernicus, Alexander Graham Bell, Edison were revived and celebrated in the various sessions of the Workshop.

However, in the end, the Co-ordinator of the workshop, Prof. Manu successfully conveyed, convinced, consoled the young Researchers who looked back their Research Supervisors in Anger. Said he “ Supervisor is also a humanbeing.... not a super human, ” so the sole responsibility of the researchers is not to depend and blame entirely the Research Supervisors; instead cultivate good mental habit, have some potential in language and a good command over the English language”.

Yes, Manu Sir! You have stood the test of time!

I am happy that I have had the wonderful opportunity to attend the workshop on Academic Writing and Research Methodology organized by AIFEST. I admire the clear and concise presentation of the co-ordinator, who has put forth the whole workshop lucidly, and has created an effective learning environment. I really like how the whole workshop has been conducted over a timespan of four weeks, which has given the participants ample time to put into practice what they have learnt and take it with them in their upcoming research projects. I have been teaching this course of research methodology in the Pre-PhD course work classes for many years now; but attending the AIFEST workshop has certainly given me some new insights on the numerous aspects of research methodology in English. While each module is well-paced and has contemporary relevance in the field of research, some parts like the use of plagiarism softwares, the nuances of academic publishing, predatory conferences and fake journals etc. are of great significance, given today’s research scenario. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to get a real understanding of how to approach academic writing and research methodology in a well-rounded manner.

The AIFEST, that has been encouraging research and innovation in India for the past two and a half decades, conducted this workshop which was an intellectual venture amidst the quarantine period. A workshop of this kind opens up new vistas of knowledge and is sheer bliss for both budding and experienced researchers. It proved to be an affordable option than any traditional workshop in the sense that there were no commuting costs, the study material and additional readings were sent electronically and the lectures could be accessed at any time according to the convenience of the participants. The syllabus of all the four modules was well crafted and put forth in the most innovative and comprehensible manner by the resource person. Everything was systematic and orderly, and the content was engrossing throughout. The knowledge, preparedness, and manner of delivery of Mr. Manu was laudable. He delved into the minutest details of the topics and answered the queries with equal enthusiasm and passion. The questions and responses of fellow participants that were shared offered a novel way of looking at things. The information and learning acquired through the workshop is useful for mitigating the risks involved in research writing and publishing. It was a great workshop for not just connoisseurs but also amateurs of research in English.

I am thankful for having had the opportunity to attend the month-long workshop on Academic Writing and Research Methodology organised by AIFEST. I came across it on a research group on Facebook, and I was intrigued looking at the diverse range of topics being covered. While research methodology workshops in social sciences are held every now and then, finding a research methodology workshop in literature is a rarity. And though I am halfway through my doctoral dissertation, there was something new to learn and benefit from the workshop every single day. Every module was relevant and in keeping up with the nuances of contemporary research scenario; be it selecting the research topic, the issue of predatory journals, or using plagiarism softwares et al. I feel that had this workshop been conducted when I was in the beginning of my research career, it would have helped me streamline and organize my research approach way better. I really appreciate the insights that were provided in each topic, and the painstaking effort of the co-ordinator. This workshop has truly opened up my eyes to a new way of doing research, and I hope to become a part of many such endeavours in times to come.

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who initiated to proceed a workshop on the most useful topic Academic Writing and Research Methodology. This is a productive session for many students, research scholars and even for teachers to learn more about research. As am a post graduate student this workshop really helped me to get more clarity for doing my research. In my PG programme we had our projects that helped to have knowledge on research. We had also studied research methodology as a paper as it is included in our syllabus we cannot focus much more. I have done an online Swayam course on Academic Writing course is applicable for all the researchers of other major but this workshop is exclusively for English literature students, scholars and teachers which helped to understand everything clearly. Starting from module 1 to 4 everything was explained well, it helped me to know and learn many things. Information about how to write a proposal, research paper, and publishing them in the right journal were explained well. More detailed ideas and thoughts were given by Manu sir, he really taught in very simple words that well be helped all the participants. All the materials that were shared to us was very useful. The workshop scheduled in a proper way that helped me to attend all the session. I really thank All India Forum for English Students, Scholars and Trainers for conducting this workshop.

I came across this wonderful workshop as a pure serendipity!! The duration of the workshop was too long but it did not seem long. Time flew in a matter of seconds. Indubitably, Prof Manu, coordinator of this workshop is a dynamic and informative speaker. His presentation style was stupendous, engaging, energetic and educational. Each and every audio clip is informative and his insights on Research metrics really improved my hunting for new ideas. He has good perspectives on where and how to gather ideas. Over the years, I have observed many speakers but I put Prof Manu at the top of the heap! Not only Prof Manu is a great educator but also he is one of the best facilitator I have ever seen.

What enthralls me the most is his lecture on Theory Wars, After Theory and Against Theory. While studying about the research ethics, I get an opportunity to know more about the beauty of a Theory. Prof has allotted two days for explaining the role of theory in Research. The participants were taken along with him a journey through the various stages in which literary theory came into literature and how it gained a position of prominence and made a monstrous entry in the academic circles. I find it easy to follow all the materials and resources provided. Love the ease and the way he connects with the participants in clarifying queries. Very interesting contents, presented really well. Especially his lecture on ‘Art of Writing Abstract in a Research Paper’ is electrifying and engaging. His ideas and techniques are thought provoking and I feel that I have gained a skill which I definitely will use in my practice. Feeling elated to be a part of this workshop which is absolutely enlightening, energizing and hugely enjoyable. The workshop is not only enlightening but also deeply powerful.

I heart fully can say that your way of presentation on each and every module is very helpful and I enjoyed every session of your thought provoking words. The way you explained is worthy and the knowledge which we gain is very informative and is applicable to every step of research. I feel very comfortable while listening the audios as you nailed it perfectly. I personally liked the literary theories which you made it very easy for many students who are preparing NTA UGC NET and other entrance exams. The way you precisely explained us the concepts which are unaware for most of us and also cleared many doubts. Moreover, the articles and books that you have suggested are excellent and very useful for us. The efforts on your end are super inspiring. I thank you for the entire course is full-fledged during this quarantine. And many congratulations on the success of the workshop.

First of all I’m very glad that I’ve participated in this workshop. I’ve learnt many stuffs which I never came across in the research area. The course content is well constructed and its very ease to understand the circumstances of a research work in step by step manner. And the Audio lectures are far better than any other video online classes. Audio lectures are very perfect with understandable examples. And the four consecutive modules are better to understand with clear topics.

This workshop through WhatsApp is user friendly and very comfortable. It helps us to learn in our comfort zone. This one month course is very worthy one. And to be Frank I just know only the word plagiarism as a ‘copy detector’ and not aware of anything about this. Through your audio lectures I acquired some wide view of plagiarism. Not only plagiarism learnt in-depth knowledge of various topics regarding research, library, journals, publications and so on.

Seriously this course has made me to boost up my confidence to work with a research paper. Thanks for the quarantine period.. so that I’ve utilized well to learn more about research paper which I’ve always longed to learn. And especially the academic links, YouTube links, and several sample papers helped me to learn more.

Big thanks sir!

The workshop is worth spending our time and efforts as it has typically provided the most valuable knowledge required for the present-day researchers. I totally enjoyed and learned a lot in the most comfortable and affordable environment. For a beginner like me, this workshop has offered great encouragement and confidence to carry the research work in the coming future. The knowledge gained through your workshop is applicable in almost at every stage of conducting research. You have given us the basic insight of the research methodology based on the present-day circumstances. Many points that were said during this workshop are thought-provoking and straightforward especially your words on present-day situations in higher education and research conditions in India. The way you carefully explained to us the concepts is truly brilliant and also sorted out our doubts in the most deserving fashion. Your audios very clearly recorded, masterly structured and easy to understand. Your opinions on higher education and UGC are quite complementing as you spoke your heart. I can joyfully say that this workshop is conducted at the right time by the right person.

I thank you for the entire course fairly conducted during the time of quarantine. I congratulate you on the success of this workshop.

Brimming with happiness and gratitude, I feel content that I have spent my time in the most productive way. Looking at people on the various social platforms grumbling around about spending time, I found a great platform through Research Gate to learn and imbibe the most vital and significant things about research showing the unnoticed. Teaching from the basic to most relevant and appropriate technologies like Turnitin & Urukund. For every aspiring research and the researcher these will be the steps to carefully step on.

Beginning with the basic types of research and deciphering us the ways to zero in the topic and primarily to stay focussed. Formulating a thesis statement can never be best taught other than in this workshop. Instead of just saying the impractical and confusing rules it was clearly disentangled with perfect examples by our prolific speaker and coordinator. The examples divided as good and poor made it more easily comprehensible.

The introduction on ISSN & ISBN numbers and the confidence that one has gained after attending the workshop is great. Lending us clear ideas of Predatory Journals for which most of us have fell prey for. The information would certainly prevent us from any such incidents in the future.

A comprehensive and wide variety of topics that were clearly packed with genuine information and facts for the benefit of the participants. The relentless efforts of the coordinator are very much evident through the quality of the content presented by him. With no trace of circumlocution, but at the same time sharing every piece of information that could do help the participants.

When I was tired of delivering lectures to the students and checking student if they are following the workshop has given me a great opportunity to listen carefully, make notes and keep pondering over the points discussed.

Throwing light upon the Scope of Research and advancing of knowledge were the highlights. Making us understand that doing/pursuing research in never easy, nevertheless once decided to pursue then there is no looking back, but it is only looking forward. Categorising the theoretical and conceptual framework and making it crystal clear. The lecture on theory and made us shed the prepossessed fear on theories.

Insisting on the basic punctuation marks like a period, a comma etc., even though basic and simple, insisted on the crucial roles they play in formulating each sentence. The systematic selection and the presentation of the information is really commendable and finally once the course gets over, it’s certain to miss the prompt audios that kept us informed and enriched us with prodigious information.

The Day when I Joined

The day from which the journey started of this workshop was 11 April 2020, as I can recall, when I got the information regarding this workshop. I found myself bit confused; at one side it was a thrilling news for me, at the other hand I was thinking that I had not any idea of online payment. Then all of sudden one view flashed in the mind, there are only 50 seats, hence rarest chances to get selected even I felt it was beyond impossible. First thing which was asked to fill the form for which not any payment was asked, I filled with such a satisfaction, that there would not be going anything further, no need to worry. “No need to think of any online payment”, I clarified in my sub conscious mind, “there are many intellectual brainy people in our country”. I was much dam sure even I had forgotten about filling any form. But at my utmost shocking surprise when the very next day on 12 April one message popped that I was selected. I managed the online registration fees through one of my close ones. After getting the transaction slip, I contacted with one person who was introduced as Workshop Coordinator through the Whats App number and I got the Registration Code from the Coordinator. I found the way of dealing a candidate was very decent. So this was the first verbal communication with Manu sir.

The Announcement of the Online Classes

The most relaxing announcement was this, that the whole workshop would be conducted through Whats App. On practical grounds; it was such a refreshing announcement, that without putting extra toiling efforts, a candidate could join easily and if one is not getting the specified time to listen the pre –scheduled lectures through audio clips and reading stuff, would be able to go through as per one’s own convenience. Making the course stuff available on Whats App, the most frequently and enormously used app in each and every hour, so possibilities are many a times increased that it would be gone through easily.

The Designing of the Online Classes

From 24 April, 2020 the online workshop started. I personally appreciate and find it very systematic and well-organized. The workshop is divided into 4 modules. Each and every module designed in the tint of 5days. After the completion of one module one or two days break is also worthy enough for those who are lagging behind or even who are lucky go listeners can also get some time to revive the whole and get a new insight.

I have been getting endless readable stuffs through this course for which I wish, I could also listen them because reading asks for the physical involvement as well as the engaged state of mind too. So, I personally find the reading stuff is more pain taking at one hand and at the other side I also understand that this stuff is also very essential to understand the audio clips and grabbing the thorough knowledge of any field. When the course is itself relevant with research, publication and academic writing, no doubt it demands for long hours twisting and stretching sitting postures headed into the heaps of study materials.

The pace and volume of speech and length/ time duration of audio clips are also very logical to put the listener in comfort zone with attentive and alert mind.

Quality of the Workshop

Creating an environment to make the audience listen carefully and connecting them with study materials is such a toughest task, which is being done by the Coordinator sir very diligently, patiently and persistently. I find that sir has shown the truth of writing and practical scenario of publication market. All the supplements, which are required to create a research paper, book, journal or write a synopsis or dissertation are being given through audio clippings and study materials.

Conclusion

Through this lively workshop, I have come to know that such difficult and thorough stuff also can be taught online. As a tiny particle of this academic universe, I know that I virtually know nothing. It has developed a creative interest in me to study in new dimensions. It has also changed my vision to look at online courses. I have found it more than worthy, yes now it depends on me up to what extent I can learn from it.

One of my co-scholars informed me regarding the workshop on Academic Writing and Research Methodology organized by AIFEST. This is my fifth workshop as a research scholar and I can certainly say that this is the best workshop attended so far. It is very detailed and comprehensive in every sense. Initially, I thought that it would be like other workshops I had attended but it has brought a sea change in my outlook towards research as a process. Its plus points include valid and reliable information dissemination with quotes and references, practical suggestions and solutions for problems, recommendation of important books for further study and most importantly its resource person -Prof. Manu. He is the backbone of the workshop and he is very knowledgeable, polite, realistic and empathetic teacher which is so hard to find today. The workshop covers all the major areas related to research and it answers all the queries and doubts that the researchers may have. It was a great experience to be a part of the research workshop. I am extremely thankful to Manu sir for conducting this workshop so efficiently and for always answering all my questions patiently, providing with practical solutions and helping me get Research Gate membership. I feel that all the questions that I wanted to ask ever since I joined research are answered here by Sir and in such a useful and practicable manner with minimum discussion of theoretical and philosophical ways. This is a significant milestone in my journey of becoming a researcher and the workshop is one of its kind.

Post Graduate Student, University of Delhi

I decided to join this Workshop because it seemed to be a perfect opportunity to learn about the Research Methodology in English and enhance my knowledge on the subject. It certainly lived up to my expectations and I am really proud of the choice I made. It was a well organised and even better executed workshop which proved to be very informative and interesting. The audio clips were sent exactly on time and the organiser is one of the most humble tutors I have ever come across.

The audio clips are a great way to save time and improve the listening skills of the learners, but the process surely has some drawbacks. It sometimes makes the learning experience boring and lengthy. Students like me would have much preferred typed notes, rather than the audio clips, which also contain accent and concentration barriers. The written notes have a different, yet easier way to make the learner understand a topic better.

Overall, the Workshop was definitely worth the time and money which was spent by all categories of learners and made the Research Methodology a well understood concept for many.

I found the workshop extremely helpful, informative and enlightening. It helped me to gain new insight and information related to research and techniques. The way course coordinator delivered all the sessions was great. The workshop covered each and every minute detail related to the research in English. It focused on almost all aspects of research from writing an abstract, a full length paper, norms by UGC, journals, process of publication and even more. The study material, books and audios were really helpful. It was planned according to the convenience of the participants. I participated in other workshops as well, but genuinely this is one of the best workshops I’ve attended. The coordinator, Prof. Manu has been an excellent instructor and mentor. A one month long duration workshop seems tiring but here the experience was different. I realized that the time slot opted, breaks between the course days gave me opportunity and time to complete the course in case lagging behind and moreover, to grasp, observe, analyze and sink in information provided. It was very well organized. The best thing was the fact that the workshop was planned keeping all the participants in mind as some were beginners, some were pursuing their research works and some were the experts in their field. The workshop catered to each participants need and resolved all queries. The coordinator made participants familiar; there were some light comic moments, some witty and fun remarks by him that made all to connect with him as well. He encouraged and motivated us through own experiences and failures. All the lectures were delivered via audio clips with utmost sincerity, patience and poise. In all, this workshop is a huge success and is doing a great work for improving the condition of research in India. I am truly benefitted by attending the workshop and it inspired me to take research work with utmost sincerity now.

Kudos! to the course Coordinator and the entire team of AIFEST. I hope to attend more workshops like this in future.

In my twenty years of career, I attended and enrolled in many certificate courses, but to confess honestly this online workshop-cum-certificate course on “Academic Writing and Research Methodology” proved to be one of the best courses I have enrolled. It has provided important insights into academic writing and research methodology. It woke up the ‘real’ researcher in me and instilled passion towards academic writing. Before joining this workshop I had a little knowledge on research methodology and completely ignorant on various other aspects.

Module I – Research Topic and Role of Theory in Research

Module II – Research Proposal and Plagiarism

Module III – Journals, Papers and Research Publication

Module IV – Writing the Research Article

The four modules ‘Oases for a thirsty Researcher’ offered ample information, which served as an eye opener on various other aspects, especially on predatory journals and research paper publications. I am very much satisfied and benefited with course lectures, e-books, course materials and video tutorials, even got the advantage of paying subsidized fee for entire course. In every aspect it is a worth doing course.

Coming to the course coordinator, Prof. Manu, no words can explain his caliber and efforts to engross all the participants in understanding each audio clip. His command over the subject, frank and bold revelation of information on many fake and misguiding issues is amazing. Each audio clip worked as an arrow in emanating right kind of knowledge for the audience. While speaking on ‘The Act and Art of writing…’ he said that the writers should seduce their readers through the art of writing, Prof. Manu is also very good at ‘the art of speaking’ and can seduce his audience listen the lectures without feeling boredom. Using selective vocabulary & phrases, well-constructed sentences are the highlights in his speech. The melody in his voice seduces the ears with warmth and even after completion of the session it lingers around.

Finally I urge Prof. Manu to organize this kind of course regularly so that every English Student, Scholar and Trainer can be benefited. It imparts knowledge on various procedures and facts involved in academic writing and research methodology, it also inculcates the principle of honesty in academic writing and to become a good researcher.

In the wake of pandemic chaos, AIFEST’s plan of this Workshop-cum-Certificate Course tuned and will continue to tune me as a research scholar throughout my career. It was planned very systematically and executed with the same effectivity. It has created a platform for the new researchers to understand and explore English language and literature. It covered all the topics from finding a research gap to writing an effective article to publishing articles without payment and from writing a research proposal to finding research funding agencies. It also threw light on plagiarism and the predatory journals and ways to tackle with them. In short, it makes one aware of what research is in English language and literature.

Its distinctiveness is the way Prof. Manu delivered and deliberated every aspect of each chosen topic systematically and compelled active participation of all the participants. His habit of typical examples, ideas, opinions and views are scholarly, straightforward and logical. Prof. Manu’s insightful passion, yearning and profound scholarship reaches the researchers through each of his words which has been and will be memorable. He has thrown light on all the elements a researcher needs to know. This course changed my entire perspective to bring it on a proper track. It is highly useful and helpful. It is a must-to-do course for those who wish to pursue research in English language and literature. The time I spent during this workshop is one of the catchiest, fascinating and appealing in my life.

An online workshop on ‘Academic Writing and Research Methodology in English’ was an initiative put forward by AIFEST (All India Forum for English Students, Scholars, and Trainers) in collaboration with the Aesthetic International Literary Journal. The course was scheduled from 24 April 2020 to 24 May 2020. The resource person, Prof. Manu Mangattu, could quite seamlessly guide the participants from different walks of the academic sphere, attain an extensive overview of scholarly writing. The course was divided into four modules, including topics on proposal writing, research ethics, different stages of article writing, research methods, predatory journals and conferences, UGC CARE list, the evolution of theory in the academic arena, conceptual framework, plagiarism in research, etc.

WhatsApp was the key medium employed to conduct the course, however, PDFs and YouTube videos were also used to provide additional information. The flexibility of the online course has given the participants ample time to learn at one's own place and pace. It came as a boon as most of the workshops on research writing in English will be either expensive or unreachable. The resource person was keen on broadcasting the audios between 9 pm and 10 pm and was approachable to clarify doubts. Moreover, efforts were made by Prof. Manu Mangattu to elicit responses from the participants in the form of feedback, suggestions, and opinions. It is commendable, how he effortlessly catered to the needs of his participants by respecting their differences, whether they are confident or reluctant in posting audios or texts. With his expertise and light sense of humour, the instructor could impart the well structured content effectively. The assignments were also framed considering the convenience of the participants.

The course offered a lot more than what I had expected. It not only helped me gain new information but also purged off various misconceptions and misunderstandings. Amidst all the stress and chaos around during the lockdown period, undertaking this course made me feel positive and productive.

The main aim of research is to generate knowledge, awake curiosity, provide useful information, enhance findings, and finally it should help society. For this purpose many of the researchers and academicians have to probe more in to research and academic writing. This workshop I found to be the need of the hour during this pandemic period where many people would find more time to do research.

I really feel honored to give a short review about this workshop entitled “Academic Writing and Research Methodology in English –An Online Workshop-cum-Certificate Course. It was one month workshop from 24th April-24th May2020.Prof.Manu was the course coordinator. The workshop was indeed divided into modules as the capsule form for better understanding of the learners. It was a self paced course where we could find our convenient time to read.Prof.Manu was kind enough to clarify our doubts and he enhanced discussion forum too during the session. It helped a lot to clarify doubts in offline mode.

I found this workshop to be more interesting and enriching where it covered an array of topics under one umbrella called research. The topics like Plagiarism, H index, Scopus indexed journals, UGC care journals, Softwares regarding the research, Predatory journals DOI, Researchgate,Academia was useful. The books, documents, links shared during workshop were much resourceful.

The dissemination of knowledge through social media was quite interesting and really helped us to learn in a very calm and composed manner. I sincerely thank Prof.Manu sir for taking this course in such a lively manner.Discussions.clarification, sharing of facts was encouraged during the session. The course schedule was clear, Assignment dates and other further communications make us to fall in the line without confusion. Learners also had breathing time to complete the lack in portions. I found this workshop very insightful and resourceful. This workshop when utilized properly would make researchers, academicians, faculties to explore more about academic writing and research. It was great platform for budding researchers and academicians.

The online workshop on Academic Writing and Research Methodology is a beacon of hope to all the scholars who have the quest for pursuing Research and honing their writing skills, despite being quarantined in their respective homes due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The organization of workshop into five modules by the AIFEST is highly appreciable. The mode of conducting classes through Whats App in short videos made all the participants listen to the classes at their convenient time. Further, the course content was well-designed to cater to the needs of heterogeneous group of students, research scholars, budding and experienced teachers. The Course Coordinator’s role in the workshop is highly commendable. Appeasing the participants from across the nation is a challenging task to anyone. However, he reached out to all the participants and tried his best to make the course contents understandable to all. Moreover, the way the Course Coordinator took every care to run the classes smoothly without any discrepancies, the way he addressed the queries from time to time and the way he detailed all the topics from the basics like Mechanics of writing to Writing a Scholarly article are also highly commendable. Furthermore, the experiences shared by the other participants about the Predatory Journals and Conferences made the participants aware of the fake journals and helped them not to fall prey for them in the future. For sure, the workshop equipped all the participants with the knowledge of comprehensive resources needed to hone their academic writing.

When I got the information about the workshop, I did not know what to expect. But the course content was so concise and well explained that I was keen to sign up. What intrigued me greatly was the one on one way of getting the lectures instead of a large group of people, each bombarding it with relevant and irrelevant input.

The workshop opened up an entirely new way of using only an audio tool to share lectures on the various aspects of research writing. Each module was well planned in a manner that gave time to catch up if we missed a few lectures, and also to ruminate on the inputs shared. The resource person Manu is very methodical, and the delivery mode bears clarity and simplicity. He does not use jargons that are difficult to comprehend and deals with every aspect of the module from the basics considering students in the group and seniors like me who have lost out on academic continuity due to life’s twists and turns.

I am happy to have experienced this workshop and believe it is a journey that will continue in the days to come. Truly appreciate the resource person and his team for this seamless execution.

Research and Re-search both require a huge methodology to be conducted. They remain as a nightmare to most of the research beginners. This workshop can be viewed in terms of workshop as a means, workshop as a practice and workshop as research. The act of listening to Research Methodology is quite dry since, it is theoretical or procedural in nature. But, you have seduced your students and made them spell bound to each of the module by being bit romantic in delivering your lectures. You have made the Research Methodology topic an interesting and beautiful by teaching through the lens of literature. Quite often I was nostalgic and felt as if I’m sitting in my literature classes way back to 90’s.

You have taken an immense efforts to make your participants gain a practical approach towards writing of research papers by providing many samples and examples. The presentation of the structure of modules is quite beautiful with beautification of each module using emojis and other appealing symbols and with a clarity.

This Research Methodology workshop provided transferable skills to deconstruct and analyze the step-by-step theoretical procedures involved in pursuing a research or making a research.

I adore your constant search and re-search in acquiring latest information regarding Research Methodology and your enthusiasm to render it to your students. It is really appreciable since many intellectuals do not show interest in lending knowledge or information to others.

In the travels and travails of research journey, a sound relationship between a research scholar and the supervisor is important which will lead to frequent exchange of qualitative information to have a continuum of success in research. You have better explained the roles and responsibilities of both the research scholar and supervisor in the field of research in academics which is important to know for both of them.

I appreciate your efforts to make us feel free and understand each and every concept by responding with utmost patience to our doubts and emotions positively.

As a teacher and research scholar, I could learn the skills from you to transform myself to be a good teacher as well as a good researcher.

In reality, I would like to say there is more I learnt from your workshop rather than my guide in an enjoyable and comfortable environment. The style of presentation and the knowledge you have is quite attractive.

I suggest the future aspirants of research to join such workshops to transform themselves to be a good literature student, teacher and researcher as well.

The online workshop-cum-certificate course titled “Academic writing and Research Methodology in English”, conducted by All India Forum for English Students, Scholars and Trainers (AIFEST) intended for enhancing academic research quality was a well-designed one. I would like to thank AIFEST for organising this Online Workshop-cum-Certificate Course on Academic Writing and Research Methodology in English. This topic is indeed a high-powered and beneficial to almost every person who aspires to learn something new in the research area. Participants were motivated by keeping them well informed about the workshop schedule and also the lecture delivery was hassle free. Mode of lecture was through WhatsApp. One thing I would like to specify is that no WhatsApp groups were made and every participant could get the audio clips personally in the chat box, this ensures the safety of the participants also every participant could listen to it leisurely which made it appealing. The coordinator of the workshop was Manu sir who is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable trainer. He had clear well-thought-out delivery and positively fun attitude which bestows confidence firmly in the minds of participants. I am a Research Scholar, I have completed my PG recently and got admitted to PhD course so I was not well acquainted with the Research methods and Ethics, I could definitely learn all the peculiarities of the research only because of this online workshop. Being a fresher, I had a big question as to how to deal with writing a good research article but now I can easily get through it cause of the simple steps Manu sir has given us. I was not familiar with the concept of Plagiarism in Research, the use of these softwares and also how to avoid plagiarism. One most vital topic discussed in the workshop was the publication of Research Articles and the Fraud Journals which claim to be the part of UGC. Identifying this is difficult which lands the researcher in problem, after workshop this has become transparent which will definitely save my money from the fraudulent activities. For the completion of the workshop we are required to complete assignment and a quiz which ensures that participants must regularly attend the sessions. This workshop is special to me as I could produce something positive during this lockdown also this is my first online workshop. Publication of Research Article will also be done by the AIFEST in a recognised ISSN journal and a lifetime free access to AIFEST was the most fascinating and my favourite about this online workshop-cum-Certificate Course. It has not only polished our knowledge about research but made a warrior ready to face the war and return with marvellous victory. Thank You.

Considering the present stressful time created by Covid 19, first of all, this workshop helps me to keep my mind active. A workshop helps us to acquire more knowledge on certain topics, it motivates us to work and develop our new skills. This workshop has been started from 24th April till 24th May, 2020. The best part of this workshop for me is that I have gained much more knowledge of the academic world, which had remained unknown to me until the attending of the workshop. Beginning from the topics like what is research or what a research topic should be to what is plagiarism and how can we avoid it--these are the very important things that a student should know. Nowadays, research is considered as the mandatory qualification for becoming a lecturer in a college or a university. But, there are some students including me who do not know how to do a proper research. We are just the beginners and before entering the research field we need to know a lot of things and this workshop helps us to acquire that knowledge. Another best part of this workshop is that there was no particular time-table for attending it, we could attend it at our own convenience. The course coordinator makes us understand everything very clearly. His method of sending audio is clear to receive and understand. Attending this workshop becomes a very wonderful experience for me. In short, a lot of new ideas of the academic world have been flying out from this workshop.
